ESET Rootkit Detector can't be any simpler. All you have to do is click a button on a compact user interface and the application will start looking for rootkits immediately. If it finds anything, it will remove all threats right away. If your computer is clean, the scanning process will be over almost instantly. This is literally all you have to do if you wish to make sure your Mac is rootkit-free.

The application uses very little disk space and it doesn't require a significant amount of resources. Furthermore, it can be installed just like any other Mac OS X application. In other words, you only need to extract and run a .app file. ESET Rootkit Detector works on various OS X versions, including older ones. Unfortunately, at the time of writing this review, it is not yet available for Mavericks and Yosemite.
